Description

The University of Dhaka is a public university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. On the first day of July 1921, the university opened its doors to students. Today, it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 37,018 and a faculty of 1,992.

The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or abbreviated as DU) is a public university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. On the first day of July 1921, the university opened its doors to students.

There have huge Colleges, institutes, and Medical Colleges affiliated with the University of Dhaka. Few best Medical Colleges are mentioned below;

1. Diabetic Association Medical College

The Diabetic Association Medical College and Hospital are located in a quiet and serene environment in the heart of Faridpur city at Masjid Bari Sarok, Jheeltuly on 2.21 acres of land and covering an enormous area of about two and a half lac square feet of floor space with all modern amenities.

 Since its establishment in the year 2009, Diabetic Association Medical College, Faridpur has come a long way in last the years and achieved a great reputation amongst the non-government medical colleges in the country. We have adequate qualified teaching staff and modern teaching aids like computers, multimedia, and overhead projectors for the effective delivery of lectures.

This medical college has a full-fledged library with sufficient text and reference books and journals. The library has high speed internet facilities with HINARI access. Our vision is to lead this institution into a Center of Excellence for medical education, training, and service.

2. International Medical College

Location:

The International Medical College & Hospital is located on the outskirts of the commercial township of Tongi and is about 22 km away from the city center of Dhaka. The major bus stands/terminals, railway station, and Shahjalal International Airport are within a maximum distance of 30 minutes.

The Campus:

The campus stands in a solitary environment amidst green vegetation, spaced villages, and large water bodies. One takes a walk around the campus to take a fresh breath while enjoying the panorama and picturesque that the site offers. Everything combines and converges here to make it a perfect place for learning.

The present campus of the College has an area of about 9 acres of land. The college and all preclinical and para-clinical departments are located in the academic building. The Classrooms, Dissection hall, Laboratories, Museum, Library, and other facilities are appropriately arranged on various floors of the Academic Building.

International Medical College Hospital (IMCH) is the academic hospital of the College. It is a 600 bedded multidisciplinary Hospital Complex that is located in proximity to the College building.

3. Medical College for Women & Hospital

Medical College for Women and Hospital (MCW&H) is a private medical college of Bangladesh exclusively for women. It has currently two academic campuses in Uttara, Dhaka, one in Sector – 1 and the other in Uttarakhand. The college is affiliated with Dhaka University as a constituent college.

Medical College for Women History

Medical College for Women and Hospital was established in 1992 by a group of people known as the founder members. Their aim was to provide quality medical education, research, and services to the people of Bangladesh at a reasonable cost.[citation needed] The college and the hospital are run by The Medical and Health Welfare Trust, a nonpolitical nonprofit organization. The trustees serve without compensation.

Faculty

The college has a total of 121 faculty members organized in 20 departments representing different fields of medical science. The faculty is led by Principal Sheikh Firoz Kabir. Different nationally and internationally successful figures took part in its teaching at different times in the past and present as regular teachers.

4. Holy family Red Crescent Medical College

The Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College started its journey in the academic year 1999-2000 by the inspiration of the daughter of the father of the Nation & defender of the democracy Janonetri Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the then Health Minister Sheikh Fazlul Karim Salim MP, Chairman, Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Sheikh Kabir Hossain and all the Doctors and Staffs working in Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital under the leadership of Professor Dr. Md. Maniruzzaman Bhuiyan contributed tremendously to establish the College.

The Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College is a project of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and is run by a Governing Body duly formed by the representatives of the sponsor organization Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS), representatives from Dhaka University, and the Government of Bangladesh.

5. MARKS Medical College

MARKS Medical College is approved by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Govt.
of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) and affiliated to the University of Dhaka.

Objective:

1. To provide a good academic environment and ensure that students acquire sound theoretical knowledge and good practical skills. Develop good human quality with an empathetic attitude towards people.

6. Popular Medical College

Popular Medical College is a private medical school in Bangladesh, established in 2010. It is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. It is affiliated with the University of Dhaka as a constituent college. It offers a five-year course of study leading to a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree.

The most prestigious concern of the popular group, the popular Medical College started its journey in the year 2010 and by the grace of Almighty Allah, it is now able to boast about a sound infrastructure and an enviable faculty. 7. Ashiyan Medical College

Ashiyan Medical College is situated at the biggest Planned township in the country.

The Project area comprises about 6150 acres of land located in between the Shitalakhya and the Balu River at Rupgonj thana of Narayangonj district and at Kaligonj Thana of Gazipur district, in the north-eastern side of Dhaka.

The Township will be linked with an 8(eight) lane wide expressway from the Airport Road/Pragati swarani crossing.

The distance is only 6.8 km. There will be the provision of about 26,000 residential plots of different sizes, 62,000 apartments with all necessary infrastructure and urban facilities.
